Ōmāhu School, a full primary kura (Years 1–8), stands proudly among our marae, maunga, and awa in the heart of our community. Our kura has a proud history of resilience and strength, most recently shown as we rebuilt after the devastation of Cyclone Gabrielle. Today, we continue to stand tall as a place where tamariki thrive in their learning, identity, and connection to their whenua and whakapapa.
Ūtaina Ōmāhu – This vision speaks to our shared responsibility: to live for our people, serve our hapū, and contribute to generations to come. At Ōmāhu Kura, we prepare our tamariki with mātauranga, tikanga, and a strong sense of identity, so they are ready to carry the kaupapa forward with pride, leadership, and purpose.
Me Ōmāhu te tū – This whakataukī speaks to the strength, pride, and identity we hold as a kura grounded in our whenua, whānau, and whakapapa. It means standing tall as learners, leaders, and kaitiaki – proud of who we are, where we come from, and the values that guide us.
Our Kawai o te Kura – Kaitiakitanga, Manaakitanga, Rangatiratanga, and Whanaungatanga. These kawai guide and ground us. They shape the way we think, act, and interact at Ōmāhu Kura. Our tikanga are aligned with these values, ensuring that every action upholds the mana of our kura, our whānau, and our whenua.
Ōmāhu School is more than a place of learning – it is a whānau. Together, we nurture tamariki to grow as confident, connected, and capable individuals who will carry the legacy of Ōmāhu into the future.
